- Dr. Satish Kota
Dr. Sathish Kota did his M.Sc in biotechnology from Bharathidasan University, Tiruchi and PhD in Biotechnology from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad. His research career started as a Junior Research Fellow in Biotechnology Unit, Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU), Hyderabad and he has done extensive work on plant tissue culture and plant molecular biology at ANGRAU. He has been associated as a scientist with the plant biotechnology group, R&D centre, Indian Immunologicals Ltd. (IIL), Hyderabad for 8 years.
He transiently expressed coccidial antigens in tobacco Leaves and evaluated its protective efficacy as sub-unit vaccine. He has expertise in other areas which includes mammalian cell culture; monoclonal antibody generation and maintenance; vaccine evaluation; protein purification; Protein expression in prokaryotic systems, etc. He is also involved in developing cGMP grade vaccine banks for clinical trial. His major focus at TRPVB will be in maintaining hybridoma, cell culture facilities and biosafety related procedures. He will also be additionally involved in establishing plant cell lines to produce various recombinant proteins which may be useful in developing veterinary vaccines and diagnostics.
